The story of the healing of the woman with the ongoing blood disease (Mark 5:21-34) is a strong display of the power and love of Jesus. The Son of God feels the touch of a hurting woman, heals her, and then calls her His “daughter.” Her life would never by the same.
The Scriptures, though, don’t tell us who directed her to Jesus. All we know is that she heard about Jesus (5:27)–which surely means that someone was talking about Him. After all, the people had never heard anyone speak like Jesus spoke.
Why don’t the Scriptures tell us the name of the evangelistic hero who turned the woman toward Jesus? It must simply be this: the story is never about the witness in the first place; it’s about the One of whom we witness. God used an unnamed person for His glory, and He still does today.
Even if you find yourself in what seems to be an insignificant ministry–perhaps such a ministry that few people ever really hear your name–that’s okay. Jesus uses nobodies for His glory.
So, be encouraged today.
