———-
It’s a tough question, but there is only one answer.
The question: “If you, Lord, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand?” (Psa 130:3).
The answer: “No one.” I certainly could not. My wife could not, even though she’s an incredibly faithful, godly woman. You could not. Even the godliest among us could not stand before a perfectly holy God.
We do have hope, though – and that’s found in the rest of the thought quoted above: “But with you there is forgiveness, so that we can, with reverence, serve you” (Psa 130:4). In the heart of our perfectly holy, “to-be-revered” God are grace and mercy. Through the blood of His Son, God cleanses us and makes us whole—and we get to serve Him.
You and I have much reason to rejoice!
PERSONAL REFLECTION: How much do you rejoice over God’s forgiving heart?
DAILY PRAYER: “Thank You, Lord, for forgiving me.”
