READING:
One-year plan: Song 1-8, Ephesians 1
Two-year plan: 1 Kings 3:1-4:19, John 4:9-26
———-
“In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace.” (Eph 1:7)
Today’s devotion is simple, but I trust inspiring. I read the above text in today’s New Testament reading, and what comes to mind is one of my favorite hymns—a hymn that is becoming even more significant to me as I get older:
There is a fountain filled with blood
Drawn from Immanuel’s veins;
And sinners, plunged beneath that flood,
Lose all their guilty stains:
Lose all their guilty stains,
Lose all their guilty stains;
And sinners, plunged beneath that flood,
Lose all their guilty stains.
Truly, redeeming love should be our theme! Someday, in fact, our song will be a “nobler, sweeter” one as we sing of God’s power to save. Amen.
