As a Southern Baptist seminary professor, I’m privileged to do what I do because of our partnership with Southern Baptists all over the United States. Through their regular giving, they support our work. While I do not know all of them, I am still the recipient of their generosity.
The apostle Paul knew much better than I the value of doing ministry together. He loved the Philippian church, and he saw them as his partners in the gospel. Indeed, he loved them in his heart, and he missed them deeply when separated from them because of his imprisonment. He prayed for them with gratitude, zeal, and joy. Together, despite the distance between them, they served the Lord. They were citizens of heaven, challenged to live their lives “worthy of the gospel of Christ” (Phil 1:27).
None of us serves the Lord in isolation. Instead, we believers need each other. We encourage each other. We love one another as brothers and sisters in Christ, partners in the work of getting the gospel to our neighbors and the nations. Together we do this great work.
PERSONAL REFLECTION: Do you lean on others as you serve the Lord?
DAILY PRAYER: “God, thank You for our partners in the gospel.”
