02/10/25 Our Lord

READING:

One-year plan: Leviticus 21-24

Two-year plan: Job 1-2, Acts 17:22-34

———-

Sixteen times.

That’s how many times the phrase, “I am the Lord,” occurs in today’s reading. Apparently, that truth matters much.

Indeed, it does. The God of the Bible is in charge. He sets the rules. He has the right to tell us to avoid the practices of the pagans even as He demands that we love our neighbors as ourselves. He rightly holds us accountable for our choices. Our responsibility is simply to do whatever the Lord has commanded us to do.

On the other hand, He is also the Lord who blesses His children as He wishes. He would give them a land and a harvest in Moses’ day, and He blesses us still today. We who must obey Him and answer to Him are also the delight of His heart.

He is, in fact, the Lord – and He is graciously our Lord, too.

PERSONAL REFLECTION: When was the last time you thanked the Lord for being your Lord?

DAILY PRAYER: “God, You alone are the Lord. Amen.”

TOMORROW’S READINGS:

One-year plan: Leviticus 25-27

Two-year plan: Job 3-4, Acts 18:1-17

MEMORIZATION VERSE (Feb 1-15):

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)
