03/17/25 Faithfulness to His Word

READING:

One-year plan: Joshua 19-22

Two-year plan: Psalms 1-6, Acts 28:17-31

———-

I love it when the Lord uses His Word to speak directly to our lives. Of course, He always does that—but sometimes it’s just more apparent and sweeter. Today’s one of those days for me. On a day when I just need a reminder of God’s faithfulness, here’s what I read today:

  1. “When they had finished distributing the land into its territories, the Israelites gave Joshua son of Nun an inheritance among them” (Josh 19:49). Joshua had known decades before that this was the land God intended for His people to have, and finally he was there. Perhaps the timing was different from what Joshua wanted when he had encouraged the people to take the land decades before, but God’s timing is always right.
  2. “So the Lord gave Israel all the land he had sworn to give their ancestors, and they took possession of it and settled there. . . . None of the good promises the Lord had made to the house of Israel failed. Everything was fulfilled” (Josh 19:43-45). God kept His word. All of it. Completely. Not a single promise He had made went unfulfilled. Though His people still had some work to do to root out the remnants of the pagan nations among them, the nations were defeated.

God always keeps His promises. He who said to us, “I will never leave you or abandon you” (Heb 13:5) and “I am with you always, to the end of the age” (Matt 28:20) is with us today. That’s all we need to know.

PERSONAL REFLECTION: Do you need to cling to God’s promises today? If so, here’s another one that will encourage you.

DAILY PRAYER: “God, I praise You and thank You for Your faithfulness to Your word.”
