READING:
One-year plan: Judges 3-6
Two-year plan: Psalms 10-12, Romans 1:16-32
———-
The Israelites cried out to the Lord even as they suffered the consequences of their rebellion . . . and God heard. Multiple times, in fact, in today’s reading, God raised up a judge in response to the people’s cries.
The people were not worthy; they had been blatantly rebellious.
Their track record was not good; their rebellion was recurrent.
They did what was evil in the Lord’s sight; in fact, they forgot Him (Judg 3:7). Then they did it again. And again. And again.
It would make sense to us if the Lord had chosen not to listen to their cries, but He did respond to them—just as He does in response to our cries when we run to Him in repentance. He hears, and He delivers.
You and I should sing praise to Him, “the Lord God of Israel” (Judg 5:3).
PERSONAL REFLECTION: Are you singing His praises today?
DAILY PRAYER: “God, help me not to grow complacent when You grant me victory. Deliver me.”
