As we begin this week together, let’s just focus on God in our reading for this day. Listen to the words throughout today’s reading:
- The Lord speaks to His people: “And the Lord said to you, ‘You shall be shepherd of my people Israel, and you shall be prince over Israel.’” (2 Sam 5:2)
- He was with David: “And David became greater and greater, for the Lord, the God of hosts, was with him.” (2 Sam 5:10)
- God gave His people victory: “And David inquired of the Lord, ‘Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will you give them into my hand?’ And the Lord said to David, ‘Go up, for I will certainly give the Philistines into your hand.’” (2 Sam 5:19)
- God gave His people victory in unique ways: “And when you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the balsam trees, then rouse yourself, for then the Lord has gone out before you to strike down the army of the Philistines.” (2 Sam 5:24)
- God made a covenant with David: “And your house and your kingdom shall be made sure forever before me. Your throne shall be established forever.” (2 Sam 7:16)
- There is no one like God: “Therefore you are great, O Lord God. For there is none like you, and there is no God besides you, according to all that we have heard with our ears.” (2 Sam 7:22)
- God gave ongoing victories to David: “And the Lord gave victory to David wherever he went.” (2 Sam 8:14)
All we can do is praise Him today. Amen.
