READING:
One-year plan: Psalms 1-10
Two-year plan: Proverbs 10-11, 2 Corinthians 5:16-6:2
———-
I need these words from the psalmist any time:
- some worry consumes my heart
- fear grips me
- I grieve deeply over the souls of people I love
- I beat myself up for failure
- I allow the enemy to resurrect my sin
- I find myself in places where gospel proclamation is risky
- I fret over financial issues
- frustration because God hasn’t answered my prayer yet grabs me
- I hit a wall when seeking God’s guidance in some matter
I could add other examples, of course, but I trust you realize I’m talking about times that challenge my faith at its core. When those times happen, though, I need to remember these words from the psalmist when he simply trusted God: “I will both lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, Lord, make me live in safety” (Psa 4:8).
There’s a sweet peace when we sleep knowing God’s arms are around us.
PERSONAL REFLECTION: Are you trusting God today?
PRAYER: “God, let me take my refuge in You.”
