10/03/25 Weary and Burdened

READING:

One-year plan: Matthew 10-12

Two-year plan: Jeremiah 51, Hebrews 9:1-10

———

Frankly, I’m burdened today. I’m weary.

Sometimes we get crushed under the heaviness of our failed efforts to help others or under the load of long-term prayers unanswered – or at times, the weight of both regarding the same situation. Life just gets heavy some days.

Meanwhile, Jesus makes the answer so graciously simple in comparison: “Come to Me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. All of you, take up My yoke and learn from Me, because I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for yourselves. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light” (Matt 11:28-30).

When we’re weary and burdened under our own efforts, Jesus calls us to rest in Him. Following Him is not without requirements — that is, He still expects us to be yoked to Him — but being yoked to the Master brings salvation and peace. We find spiritual rest when we fully depend on God, go with Him where He tells us to go, lay our burdens at His feet, and continually learn from Him. Please pray that I’ll keep learning.

PERSONAL REFLECTION: Do you need to rest in Jesus today?

PRAYER: “I come to You in my weariness, Lord.”
