Leviticus 1-6
“And they will be forgiven.” Nine times in today’s reading, the words “will be forgiven” appear (Lev 4:20, 26, 31, 35; 5:10, 13, 16, 18; 6:7). In addition, the words “making him [or “them”] right with the Lord” occur ten times in the same text. When the people of God followed His commands and offered required sacrifices, God would graciously purify them, forgive them, and restore them to a right relationship with Himself. God alone can forgive sins—but, He did forgive then, and He still does today.
Guilty people—like you and me—can be forgiven. God graciously makes us right with Him. That’s great news—a story worth proclaiming to our neighbors and the nations.
In fact, last year I wrote a Thanksgiving Day post about the incredible blessings of God’s forgiveness. I hope you’ll find it encouraging and inspiring today!
RESPONSE: Throughout the day, rejoice over God’s forgiveness.
