05/11/20 Many Believed

READING: 1 Samuel 26-27; 1 Chronicles 8; Acts 18

Sometimes you just need a reminder. Or, at least, I do.

Today, I read this summary statement of Paul’s work in the Corinth: “Crispus, the leader of the synagogue, believed in the Lord, along with his whole household. Many of the Corinthians, when they heard, believed and were baptized” (Acts 18:8). Others had rejected the apostle’s message, but many did indeed believe—including a Jewish leader. God was at work.

As I long for God to reach people I love, I admit that I can get discouraged. The longer I’ve been waiting and praying, the more my faith is challenged. On the other hand, though, I’m reminded today that God still reaches people. Some may turn away when hearing the gospel, but others will take their stand with Christ. God is still drawing to Himself a people from every nation, tribe, and language (Rev 7:9).

So, I pray on today, trusting that God is still changing hearts. My prayer is that I might even today see someone come to know the Lord.

PRAYER: “God, please let it be—draw to Yourself today someone for whom I’ve been praying.”

TOMORROW’S READING: 1 Samuel 28-29; 1 Chronicles 9; Acts 19
