05/25/20 From Morning until Evening

READING: 2 Samuel 13-14; Acts 28

It must have been amazing.

Imagine the scene. The apostle Paul was under house arrest, yet many Jews planned to come hear him. There, he spoke to them from morning until evening, ever seeking to persuade them about Jesus from the Law and the Prophets of the Old Testament. All day long, he apparently engaged them in debate. Continually, he worked in the power of the Spirit to teach them about the kingdom of God. His words were surely powerful and his arguments persuasive—at least for some.

All day long, Paul talked about Jesus. The session must have been a marathon, but the apostle always had something to say about his Lord. He so believed the gospel and so longed for his people to be saved that he was ready and willing to speak throughout the day. The sun came up, and the sun went down. Meals passed. People likely came and went. Never did Paul tire of that task, however. In fact, he taught others for two years while under arrest.

That’s the kind of passion for Jesus that I want.

PRAYER: “Father, give me growing zeal and persuasive words to talk about Jesus all day long.”

TOMORROW’S READING: 2 Samuel 15-17; Psalms 3, 63; Romans 1
