08/17/21 At All Times and Always

READING: Psalms 34-36, Romans 6

“I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips” (Psa 34:1). These are the words of the psalmist in today’s Old Testament reading.

At all timesAlways. That’s how often we are to bless the Lord and praise His name. When we’re on the mountain and when we’re in the valley. When we’re happy and when we’re sad. When our health is good and when our health is bad. When we’re alone and when we’re with others. When COVID is raging and when it’s not. When life is vibrant and when death seems near.

His praise shall always be on our lips. Not deceitful words. Not anger. Not immoral talk. Not sass. Not ego. Not ridicule. Not cursing. Not shaming. Not hypocrisy. No, we are to bless Him at all times.

My guess is that most of us have a long way to go. May we start today by letting His praise rest on our lips.

PRAYER: “Father, I start the day by praising You and blessing You.”

DAILY ACTION STEP:  All day long, praise Him.

TOMORROW’S READING: Psalms 37-40, Romans 7:1-8:11
