READING: Psalm 144-150, 1 Corinthians 15:50-16:24
By definition, God is forever. He has no beginning or end. He is the One who is, always has been, and always will be. He was there before He spoke creation into existence, and He will be there when He prepares a new heaven and earth. He will be the focus of worship for eternity.
This is why the psalmist could write these words: “I exalt you, my God the King, and bless your name forever and ever. I will bless you every day; I will praise your name forever and ever” (Psa 145:1-2). We can praise the Lord “forever and ever” because (1) He is forever and ever and (2) He promises us life that is forever and ever. We begin this forever process by praising Him every day.
This word is especially sweet to me today because we buried my 93-year-old father-in-law yesterday. The peace we have knowing he has entered into the eternal kingdom where he will praise God forever is simply hard to describe.
We grieve today, but our grief is temporary . . . because God is not. He is forever.
PRAYER: “God, I will praise You forever and ever.”
DAILY ACTION STEP: Please whisper a prayer for my wife and her brother today. They were very close to their parents, who are both now with the Lord.
