06/16/22 Unseen Forces

READING: 2 Kings 5:1-8:15

Sometimes I need a reminder of God’s miraculous love and care.  I know He loves us with an undying love. I know He will meet all our needs. Still, though, I’m a fallen man who struggles at times with completely trusting God. That’s one reason I’m so grateful for the Word of God that always, always turns my heart in the right direction.

In today’s reading, God made clear to Elisha and his servant His protection from the Arameans, and He did it in a mighty way. The servant saw the Aramean army surrounding the city. Horses and chariots were everywhere. Elisha, though, knew that “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them” (2 Kgs 6:16). God opened the eyes of the servant, and He saw that God had sent His own forces; indeed, what the servant saw must have been amazing: “the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha” (2 Kgs 16:17).

Today, I’m praying for a friend who recently returned to the Lord after some time in the desert. As he re-engages faith, I’m asking the Lord to keep His forces around my friend—to grant him faith, trust, and endurance as I’m sure the enemy wants to draw him back. Would you join me in that prayer?

PERSONAL REFLECTION:  Have you considered today how God takes care of and protects you?

DAILY PRAYER: “God, You are amazing. You are all-powerful. I praise You today.”
