02/02/23 Facedown

READING: Leviticus 6-9

I can only imagine what I have read today—and then only dimly. I know what the Scriptures say. I can try to envision the events in my mind. I imagine a picture or a painting that seeks to capture the story. No matter how hard I try, though, I’m left wondering in amazement.

Here’s the story. Aaron had sacrificed offerings as required. He and Moses came out of the tent of meeting, and there the glory of God fell among them. Fire then came from heaven and consumed the burnt offering. All the people could do nothing but shout and fall facedown. They fell on their faces in worship.

And, that’s not a bad place to be. We can—and should—fall before the Lord in joy, gratitude, and humility. We should long for God to make Himself known through us in a way that others recognize His presence and power. We must worship Him.

PERSONAL REFLECTION: When was the last time God’s power was evident to you?

DAILY PRAYER: “God, You are all-powerful. Amen.”

MONDAY’S READING: Leviticus 10-13
