08/25/23 Without Fail

READING: Jeremiah 44-47

Sometimes we just need reminders of God’s presence and promises. We need to hear His voice again through His Word. The words are so often encouraging and reassuring at just the right time!

Such was the reassurance God gave to his people in today’s reading, even as He announced judgment on the nation of Egypt. God would judge Egypt through Babylon, but He would preserve His people. This is where just a few words are comforting: “Do not be afraid, and do not be discouraged” (Jer 46:27, 28); after all, God would “without fail” (Jer 46:27) save His people. God would be with them, and He would keep His covenant with His people even as He judged them with exile.

These words encourage me to this day. No matter what we face, we need not be afraid or discouraged. The God who is with us will do, without fail, whatever He promised. Without fail.

I just need to remember these words today. Amen.

PERSONAL REFLECTION: Are you afraid or discouraged today?

PRAYER: “Almighty God, thank You for always keeping Your promises— even for a people who are so often disobedient and distrusting. You are a good God.”

MONDAY’S READING: Jeremiah 48-50
