READING: Zephaniah 3, Haggai 1-2, Zechariah 1-4
It’s simple, really.
All of us are sinners. Even as believers, we still wrestle with temptation and failure. Our options, though, remain the same. This is the way Zechariah spoke of these options in his day:
- “This is what the Lord of Armies says: ‘Return to me—this is the declaration of the Lord of Armies—and I will return to you, says the Lord of Armies’” (Zech 1:3).
- “This is what the Lord of Armies says: ‘Turn from your evil ways and your evil deeds. But they did not listen or pay attention to me—this is the Lord’s declaration’” (Zech 1:4).
Either return to Him when He invites us back to Him or ignore Him while He waits—those are our options. One brings peace, forgiveness, joy, and relationship; the other ultimately brings internal turmoil and judgment. One restores our relationship with our father; the other hinders that relationship. Which of these options makes the most sense to you?
Running back to Him in our sin is the wise choice. It really is that simple.
PERSONAL REFLECTION: Which choice are you making today?
PRAYER: “God, I return to You right now.”
