02/27/24 The Same Answer

READING:

One-year plan: Numbers 1-2, Mark 5:21-43

Two-year plan: Exodus 12:1-42, Matthew 19:1-15

———

Two desperate but quite different people.

One was a male, a leader of the synagogue—Jairus by name. The other was an unnamed woman who was surely an outcast in her culture because she had suffered a bleeding disease. Her struggle had been longer than a decade—12 years actually—and she had spent all her money going to all the doctors to find healing. Jairus’ situation was different in that it did not directly afflict him; instead, it was his 12-year-old daughter who was dying. I have to assume that he, too, had gone to all the doctors and had spent whatever it took to bring healing to his little girl. That’s just what daddies do.

Two different people with different genders, different statuses in society, different issues they were facing—but they both found their answer in the One of whom they had heard great, miraculous things: Jesus, the Son of God. He dealt with each situation differently, but both ended with renewed life that only He could give. Two desperate people found their answers in the One who was fully in control of the entire situation.

This same Jesus is still the answer for us today.

PERSONAL REFLECTION: Is there any area of your life where you’ve forgotten that Jesus is the answer?

PRAYER: “Lord Jesus, thank You for Your healing, resurrecting power.”
