———

Here were Jesus’ words to the unnamed woman who washed His feet with her tears and anointed them with perfume: “Your faith has saved you. Go in peace” (Luke 7:50). The words were simple and to the point, but they carry much significance.

Think about these words for each of us who is a believer today. We were once lost in our sin, separated from our Creator by our nature and our actions. We were hopeless in achieving salvation on our own, no matter how hard we might have worked at righteousness. Our daily life was often confusion and purposelessness; our destiny was eternal separation from God.

But . . . then Jesus came by.

Somehow, God in grace sent someone to us to proclaim the gospel, and His Spirit drew us to Him. At some point when we responded in faith and repentance, God said to us, “Your faith has saved you. Go in peace”—and everything changed. For me, I slept better. I looked forward to the day. I found purpose in my walk with Him. I discovered hope even in death. I can write today of the joy of hearing these words, and I can “go in peace.” Amen.

PERSONAL REFLECTION: Do you live in peace today?

PRAYER: “God, thank You for saving me.”
