———-

“Praise Yahweh!“

Those are the words of the psalmist at the beginning of Psalm 111. Just listen to the psalmist’s understanding of God, and you will know why he is so filled with praise. The Lord’s works are great. Everything He does is splendid. His righteousness endures forever. He is gracious and compassionate. He has sent redemption to His people. His name is holy and awe-inspiring (Psa 111:1-10). It’s no wonder the psalmist began the psalm with praising God and ended it the same way: “His praise endures forever” (Psa 111:10).

It’s also no wonder that the psalmist he would worship God with all his heart in the company of His people. Said one writer, “The psalmist describes his intensity and commitment: he will hold none of himself back.”*

With all our heart . . . . that’s the way we ought to worship God. With abandon. He is worth it all.

PERSONAL REFLECTION: Do you worship God with all your being?

DAILY PRAYER: “My heart is confident, God; I will sing; I will sing praises with the whole of my being.” (Psa 108:1)
