05/13/26 Greater . . . and even Greater

2 Chronicles 1-6

Solomon desired to build a temple for God, and it must be a great one because “God is greater than any of the gods” (2 Chron 2:5). He deserves the supreme . . . the magnificent . . . the glorious . . . because He is all those things and more. To give Him less than the best makes little sense.

On the other hand, Solomon well knew that God is so big that no building that human beings could build would ever be able to contain Him. Indeed, “even heaven and the highest heaven cannot contain him” (2 Chron 2:6). We enter the place of worship simply to worship Him–not to “find” Him as if He were only in that place.

It would do us good to remember just how mighty and magnificent God is. He is our friend, but He is so much more than that. In fact, the truth that He would take on flesh to bring us redemption is pretty amazing! He is indeed great.

RESPONSE: Praise the Lord today for how big and mighty He is.
