01/30/18 Who is Like You?

READING: Exodus 13:17-15:27, Matthew 19:23-20:16

Today’s one of those days when a Bible text just blesses you. The Old Testament reading today speaks of God’s leading His people across the Red Sea, His defeating and drowning the Egyptians in the process. After that victory, Moses and the Israelites then sang a song of God’s majestic power. With His right hand, He “shattered the enemy” (Exo. 15:6). With the “blast” from His nostrils the waters of the sea “heaped up” (Exo. 15:8). The Egyptians said they would overtake Israel, but, as Moses sang of God, “You blew with your breath, and the sea covered them. They sank like lead in the mighty waters” (Exo. 15:10).

Thus, the song continued with these questions: “Lord, who is like you among the gods? Who is like you, glorious in holiness, revered with praises, performing wonders?” (Exo. 15:11). The answer, of course, is simple. No one is like the Lord.

No one.

He alone loves His people with a faithful love and guides them with His strength.  He alone will “reign forever and ever!” (Exo. 15:18).

PRAYER: “God, You are highly exalted. I want to serve You with all my being. It blesses my soul to be Your disciple.”
