03/21/19 And Peter, Too

READING: Deuteronomy 6-8, Mark 16

I’m always captured by the words of Mark 16:7– “But go, tell his disciples and Peter, ‘He is going ahead of you to Galilee; you will see him there just as he told you.’” The angel made it clear that Peter – the fisherman who had denied knowing Jesus – was still in Jesus’ care. Peter had fallen hard and far, but he had not fallen so far that Jesus did not know where he was. Jesus kept His eyes on Peter even when Peter locked his own eyes on himself.*

That the angel singled out Peter is remarkable, indeed. It’s as if he were saying, “I want to make certain that Peter knows that he’s still in the group. Be sure to include him.” It’s hard to imagine how incredibly forgiving God is – and how welcoming He is when we return to Him in repentance and faith. He’s a God worth talking about!

PRAYER: “Lord, I praise You for second chances.”
