Words of Advice that Have Helped Me through the Years

At 62, I’m still learning from others. Here are two of the most recent pieces of advice I’ve needed, followed by links to three posts listing several other insights I’ve gained through the years:

  1. “It’s okay to relax and play a little.” I knew that truth—in fact, I’ve told others the same thing—but I’ve been guilty of ignoring it. Getting our puppy a few months ago has, however, been a great step for us not only because he loves us, but also because he gives me reason to play. I’m a workaholic who needs that reminder from a trusted friend.
  2. “The finish line is heaven—where crossing the finish line is stepping into eternity–not retirement.” My friend is not opposed to Christian leaders retiring; instead, he is opposed to those who retire into inactivity while the world remains lost. I want to remember my friend’s words as Pam (who is four years older than I) and I think about our future.
